Johnstown Industry by Ron Donoughe
This painting was done on location for an online Plein Air painting demonstration. It was filmed using social distancing because of the COVID pandemic.
I wanted to show the industrial beauty of Johnstown as well as the natural beauty. The painting represents the layers of Johnstown’s history, both in steel making and the water which caused the tragic floods. The extreme distance shows the mountains and the incline, which also indicate how the city is located in a valley, hence the possibility of flooding.
